Former taxi driver; currently teaching at Milner College.

After the intensity of the CELTA training I was delighted to be offered the opportunity to teach at Milner International College of English.

The CELTA qualification certainly paves the way to work in distant and exotic locations, but I am happy to remain in Perth and let the world come to me.

Ex-Milner teacher, now teaching in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

I did the CELTA course through Milner College in 2004. It was a lot of hard work - definitely not to be underestimated - but I was with a great bunch of people and the support I got from them and the lecturers was fantastic. I'm much happier in my new job than I was before I did the CELTA. A whole new life has opened up for me.

I'm teaching in Vietnam at the moment and loving it! I have a full time job teaching adults in a good school, which is only possible with the CELTA. Without it prospective teachers here usually have to teach teens and children and, of course they are paid lower rates. So if you want to be an ESL teacher, just do it! But do yourself a favour and do the CELTA first.

Working in a high school in Southern Thailand.

I was stuck in a rut that was going nowhere. After completing the CELTA course through Milner International College of English I now live in Thailand. The food is excellent, the people are really friendly and the work is great fun. I have heard some horror stories from other places. It seems that CELTA provides access to better quality schools and that without it most opportunities are with the cowboy outfits. The tutors at Milner guided me through an intense course with great professionalism. It was hard work but also really good fun.

I would recommend the CELTA course to anyone, especially at Milner College.

Ex-Milner teacher, last heard of in the UK.

Reluctant as I was to leave the friendly warmth of the Milner fold, I found a whole new world of opportunity and experience when I started to teach overseas. From the sunny shores of Sicily to the hectic but extremely rewarding summer schools of Britain, my CELTA qualification from Milner has certainly opened doors for me far and wide...which I can enjoy all the more knowing there's always a home for me in Perth if I ever grow tired of my newfound fondness for travelling!

A married couple who both did the course at Milner and are now teaching together in China.

Mike: The CELTA course blasted open my horizons. It helped me improve all my teaching skills; it taught me how to keep learning. I can teach anywhere in the world and I now know what an adverbial particle is...I recommend it to anyone who can at least spel.

Lil: I loved doing the CELTA at Milner! It was a most enjoyable, stimulating and educational time. The CELTA was the best springboard into teaching jobs anywhere in the world. If you love being the centre of attention, learning languages and eating exotic food, then you should do the CELTA.

Milner CELTA graduate and ex-Milner teacher, now teaching in China.

After graduating, and doing some travelling around, I decided I needed to get a job that did not leave me trapped in suburbia during my 20s. So, I decided I needed decent evidence of being somewhat knowledgeable as an English teacher. CELTA it was, and I had a wonderful month with some great people and inspiring teachers. I still use the first activity we were taught in nearly all of my first classes.

I am now living in Guangzhou, in China, and loving every minute of it. Last year, I was in Daqing, which is in the upper north eastern reaches of China somewhere near Siberia, and this was after a fun six week stint teaching at Milner. Having the CELTA means the better schools will hire you and you end up with less job hassle and more time for the important things, like being content and getting to travel a lot.
