Preliminary English Test (PET)
At Milner College, we offer PET as a full time course. All students must pass a pre-entry test before being accepted into this course.
The PET preparation course is suitable for students of a pre-intermediate level, who are able to cope with everyday written and spoken communication. PET students should be able to read a simple book and write a basic letter. They should have a reasonable grasp of vocabulary and should be able to communicate in a variety of situations.
PET is a good preparation for higher level exams such as FCE.
The examination at the end of the PET course has three sections:
- Reading and Writing - 1 hour 30 minutes
- Listening - 30 minutes
- Speaking - 10-12 minutes
Milner's PET course covers the four main language skills of reading, writing, listening and speaking.
A student who has passed the PET exam would gain an equivalent TOEFL score of approximately 330, and an approximate TOEIC score of 200 - 250.
