Western Australia is at the heart of Australia's mining boom. Of the $174 billion in planned investment on advanced projects in Australia, $109 billion is in Western Australia. This is more than double the next closest state, Queensland. Inevitably, the impact of this level of investment on labour markets is projected to lead to a shortage of 36,000 tradespeople by 2015.
To meet the skills shortage, employers are looking overseas for the people they need to grow their business. Temporary and permanent migration play a critical role in meeting this demand and WA's share of 457 visa holders and permanent employer sponsored migrants is growing rapidly.
English Language Tuition for Overseas Skilled Workers
Many overseas workers arrive in WA and need extra help with their English. It may be that their written skills are not sufficient for them to write reports, or perhaps they are not confident at putting ideas across in a meeting or presentation. Milner College provides specialised English teaching for overseas workers at all levels, from Beginner to Advanced. We also provide expert preparation for the IELTS exam.
Each of the four key components is covered in the tuition: speaking, writing, listening and reading. Teaching can be individual or in groups and if you wish the teacher can come to your offices at a time to suit you.
Our teachers are experienced, University of Cambridge qualified professionals, who combine practical, effective teaching methods with a patient and cheerful approach. We can provide teaching in Perth or even onsite in the north of WA if need be.
