Thank you for choosing to study at Milner College.

On your first day, you will need to:

Come to 1st floor reception at 8am

Please bring:

• Passport-sized photo of yourself (to make your student ID card)
• Money for textbook (approximately $50)
• Your passport & visa (only if you are on a student visa)

Accommodation

For information about Milner College accommodation or if you have any questions about your homestay, please see Gemma in the office.

We can guarantee your accommodation booking only for the original dates. If you would like to extend your booking, you must notify the office and pay for your new booking at least one week before. It is not always possible to extend with your current host family; you must ask them first and then notify the office. If it is not possible to extend with your current host family, we will help you find a new host family for your new booking.

If you would like to leave your homestay early, you must give your host family at least one week's notice, and also notify the office.

Student Visas

If you are on a Student Visa, you have made a contract with the Australian Government and you must follow some rules.

Attendance

1. You MUST come to school every day on time. If you are late, you will be marked ABSENT.
2. If you are absent, you MUST bring a Doctor's Certificate to Reception.
3. If you have POOR ATTENDANCE, we will give you one warning.
4. If you continue to have POOR ATTENDANCE, Milner College may tell the Department of Immigration and you may be sent home to your country. 

Holidays

1. If you would like a holiday, you MUST fill in a Holiday Application form AT LEAST ONE WEEK BEFORE you want to start your holiday. Please give the Holiday Application form to Reception. If you apply late, your application will be refused.
2. You MUST study for 12 weeks before you can have a holiday.
3. Your holiday can be a maximum of 4 weeks.
4. If you have POOR ATTENDANCE, your application will be refused.

OSHC (Medibank Private)

1. You must have Overseas Student Health Cover while you are in Australia. Milner College organises your Medibank card for you. Please come to Reception in 2 weeks to pick up your Medibank card.  Click here to find out  what is covered by Medibank Private in English and other languages.
2. If you have cover with another OSHC provider (eg Worldcare Assist), it is your responsibility to extend this cover.

Change of Address

1. If you change your address, you must tell Reception.

 Holidays

If you would like a holiday, you must fill in the Holiday Application form.  These are located in the hall outside Reception.

• If you have a STUDENT visa, you can have a MAXIMUM 4 weeks holiday only after completing 12 weeks of your course.
• If you have a TOURIST visa or a WORKING HOLIDAY visa, you can have a holiday of ONE WEEK or MORE whenever you wish.
• If your attendance has been less than 80%, you can't have a holiday.
• Your holiday weeks will be added to your course. No Refund for these weeks.
• Your holiday must START ON A MONDAY.
• Minimum holiday is ONE WEEK.
• You must give this form to reception ONE FULL WEEK before want your holiday to start.
• Your HOST FAMILY, if you have one, must sign this form at the bottom.
• Students under 18 years of age need a letter from their parent or guardian.
• Come to Reception 24 HOURS after giving us this form.
